Pollution Essay

I would say that nowadays everybody is concerned with the climate change because it’s something we hear every day in the news and each time the consequences are more and more obvious. Nevertheless, I think many people are not committed to the protection of the natural environment.

I know plenty of people who don’t recycle well because they dont feel like separating the trash in their appropiate dumpsters, drop litter on the floor beacuse the bin is a bit far, or throw away rubbish into the lake or sea. But there is a widening gulf between this “litte” pollution and the one that is caused by big factories, specially in developing countries. Some factories pour all kind of chemical waste into the sea, polluting the water and causing the death of tons of fishes. Others send out great clouds of poisonous smoke which are fulling the air with light pollution that we cannot see. In addition, pollution have terrible effects  such as droughts, rising sea level, greenhouse gas, floods, rising average temperature, etc. We are destroying entire forest and harming lots of animals because a lot of trees are being cut down to built buildings, dams, factories, etc. We have seriously depleted the ozone layer in the last few decades by our selfish actions.

Pollution is a world-wide problem and I belive it isn’t  taken very seriouly by politicians. Sometimes they  take short-term measures to alleviate some problems but I think that embracing green politics may be our best hope in the long term to eradicate pollution. In my opinion, the government should take some measures, like encouring public transport, in order to reduce air pollution which is being caused by the vehicles’ exhaust fumes, which are polluting massively the air. Another solution may be to stimulate people to follow the three Rs- reduce, reuse ad recycle.

In brief, planet Earth is a gift we were given and we are tossing it in the trash.
